BECOME A CLUB MEMBER
GARDEN STATE CAT CLUB, organized in 1936, is the third oldest cat club affiliated with CFA (Cat Fancier's Association). The objectives as stated in the constitution are:
1. To promote the welfare of all cats.
2. To create interest in, and knowledge of cats by the staging of shows, seminars, educational presentations & interaction with the public & other organizations having similar objectives.
3. To cooperate with and provide financial support to feline research & welfare facilities.
4. To encourage proper care and responsible ownership of all cats.
5. To encourage and cultivate friendships through social and cat show - related activities
Meetings are held at 7:30 PM on the 4th Tuesday of each month except for August and December. Many members have dinner together prior to meetings.
Traditional social events include a Holiday Party in December, and a Spring Social in May. All members are encouraged to help with the planning and presentation of the annual cat show in July.
There are no prerequisites for membership other than an interest in pursuing the club objectives. It is not necessary that the applicant own a cat.
The club celebrates cats and club activities by publishing a newsletter three times a year. You are invited to submit material that you feel would be of interest to the membership.
We also communicate extensively by email. Please provide your email address on the application.
The club contributes to animal welfare and feline health organizations as funds permit. We also monitor legislative issues that may impact on pet ownership and the breeding of pedigreed cats.
Anyone who is interested in the objectives of the club may apply for associate or junior (under 18 years of age) membership by completing the attached form and mailing it with a dues check to the address below, or handing it with a check to any club member.
Associate and Junior members are entitled to all club privileges except voting for officers and holding elected office. They are encouraged to attend meetings and social affairs, join in committee work and participate in staging the annual show.
Transfer to full membership is dependent on participation in club affairs, attendance at meetings and demonstrated commitment to club objectives.
